Also, a big congratulations to Jack Downard for receiving the 2017 Clubman of the Year Award.
Generous donations from club members and committee enabled us to raffle 3 hampers which were won by Pat Strotten, Willshire family and Gary Zame. Kay Yen won the home-made Christmas pudding. Over $200 was raised towards the Hitting Wall and Hot Shots Court.
On Australia Day the BBTC team, Lucy and Phil Daborn competed against Bundoora TC in the Fast 4 competition urged on by a noisy 4 Woman Cheer Squad.
In spite of a great performance by Lucy in the women’s singles and a spirited effort by both players in the entertaining doubles, we were defeated. Phil and Lucy attended the draw for the major Prize of $5000 on 30th January.
Each club wrote their club’s name on a tennis ball and the winning ball was drawn by Daria Gavrilova, again we were unlucky. However, Phil and Lucy enjoyed their Australian Open Experience very much and received an Aus Open merchandise pack for their efforts.
